Obsession

Ok, so I finished reading some books the other week, and I can't stop thinking about them. No! it is NOT the Twilight series, thank you. It's Kristin Britian's Green Rider series:

The Green Rider,

The First Rider's Call,

The High Kings Tomb,

The library didn't have the third book in stock so I had to go and buy the last one. and I had to drive around to find somone who had it in stock! Of course she couldn't finish her series in 3 books, and I am DYING to know what happens next. It was 4 years between the publishing of her second and third book, and that was published a year ago. If I have to wait another three years I am going to go BATTY. I am still having parts of the books invade my dreams. That is a common occurance when I am actually reading the books, but I have read other books since then. I also havn't enjoyed the books I have read since finishing The High Kings Tomb. I don't know if it's because I have chosen poorly in my last few book selections, or if I am now tainted by the series. There's enough action, comedy, romantic tension, "fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, true love," it's got it all! Plus she has a faboulous editor! The 5 book series I read before the Green Rider series was full of errors, and I don't mean just punctuation and tense problems (although those were there) but the dude got the character's names mixed up! (unless his characters can transport to other spots and start doing what another character was doing in the previous sentance, and then in the next paragraph be where he was supposed to be) OH! It was soooo annoying and he did it more than once!!! So the Green Rider was a beautiful breath of fresh air. But after I finished the thee books, I read a book that the author would have three years pass without mentioning it and just assume you knew, and then mention it 20 pages after the fact. ARG!!! There was a quote on my google page that said something along the lines of "many best sellers could have been prevented by good English teachers." Amen to that!!!! So now I went back to the Edddings because I enjoyed the Belgariad and the Mallorean, but The Dreamers series is like pulling teeth!!! I don't really watch T.V. or anything, so most of my days are spent reading. I read about 200-300 pages a day if it's a good book. It has taken me 2 weeks to get to page 199 in the first book of the series. It's soooo Dry!!! So not only am I fighting to read the book, but the time I would spend reading is now spent being totally bored. Lucky for be we are haveing beautiful weather so I can go for walks and stuff, but that's going to change tomorrow, so I'm out of luck. :( Ok, frustration ebbing. Perhaps I have to go to the library and try again.

Perfection?

So in the past months I have been trying NOT to be perfect. (No, not as in my ultimate goal of exaltation or anything) It's more of the little things. I found myself inturrupting Brent's converstations with others to clarify that it was only 4 o'clock, and not 6 o'clock. Or that it cost $10 and not $20. Just the little things that don't make any difference, but just point out that I either know more than whoever I am correcting, or that I am just more Anal than they are. Those kind of specifics, when unimportant, don't need constant refereeing, and that way I am not as likely to offend whoever is speaking by pointing out that they are WRONG. Granted I still correct them in my head, but I can hold my tongue now.

The interesting thing is that I seem to sway the other way too. I exaggerate when I should be conscise. I noticed it a lot when I was trying to make friends iwth the people in my neighborhood. I would exxagerate to the point of absurdity, and they would just stand there looking at me like I was insane.

I guess that was a learned thing, along with describing things with gestures and sounds instead of words. How was I supposed to know that when I said the bird went "WaFoof, whump, whump" that not everyone understands that I am implying that the bird was not only huge but that the fence it landed on reverberated with the impact? I mean DUH!!!! right??

Here's some random pictures. These I took outside of the apartment we were living at this time last year. I love the contrast of the snow and the clear sky.

I actually didn't take any pictures of the first snow this year. I don't know why, Kit sure was cute in her snow stuff, but Comet was the best he would kick up snow and then chase it, and then while running kick more up. It was funny to watch. Kit was laughing at him too!

Star date ?!?!?!

As I was thinking about my best Shatner impression and coming up with the star-date it got me wondering. If my blogger post can automatically put the date and time on my blogs, what was wrong with his journal? I get that he probably didn't have the internet where no man had gone before (and dug up the roads and took 4 months to put in the cables) but come on!!!

*** Note Yea the technology wasn't created at the time the shows were written, but It still makes it hard for me to post the star-date when it's right there on top of the blog anyway

Here's a picture to make Mark happy.

Pretty huh? It was one of the ones that came with the computer, but it's nice.

**Later note: I have now noticed that my Blog has not accounted for daylight savings, no, wait, it's just in Pacific time. I wonder how I can change that..... I guess saying the star-date is safer than relying on these stupid contraptions. But if that's the case why not write the journal entry and have a voice dub reading what was written, or was that the case and I missed it in all the episodes???

Mapotomus Log

I find that as I think of things to Blog about I have a hard time expressing myself as myself. I can take on a persona and that persona can tell about the feelings & events that I seem to have such issues expressing. Thus the creating of this Blog. I also found it hard to post my stuff on the other blog just because it was the "family" blog and not "mine." That blog will still be updated in it's same unregularly fasion, I just get to put some of my stuff on this this one too!
